The Christian Critic's
Movie Parables

Letter from Michael Elliott

To my loyal readers,

ChristianCritic.com began with a revelation and it appears it will be ending the same way.

To my surprise, I find that I am no longer God-driven to publish reviews of the Hollywood product. Ten years ago, when I first started the website, the number of publications dedicated to use commercial entertainment as an exploration of positive spiritual truths could be counted on one hand (and even then with fingers left over). At that time, I received a clear calling which culminated in the reviews I decided to call "Movie Parables."

Today, there are far more sites and individuals who consider films from a spiritual perspective. The need for ChristianCritic.com is no longer as prevalent as it was when it began and the sacrifices needed to keep it going are harder to justify.

My aim from the beginning was to emphasize that the truth of God is applicable in all areas of life. Movies, as a medium that explores all of life's experiences, can be a marvelous exercise in spiritual discernment. Regardless of the filmmaker's intention, he or she must paint upon the canvas of creation… a canvas that God has provided. More and more people are realizing that God, no matter how much He is ignored or forgotten, can not be written out of the picture…. ever. All we, as an audience, must do is to remember to view the story, the characters, and their decisions from His perspective. It is my prayer that those who have relied upon this website will continue the practice - both in and out of the theater.

I want to thank you for your continued support and visitation of ChristianCritic.com. The website will remain active until the term of the server contract expires. After which time it will, just as all things born of man must do, return to dust.

I trust that my reviews have touched some and provided food for thought, joy, insight, and light in a world where these elements are often not readily seen.

I remain in Christ,

Michael Elliott
